Did you know that commercial nail polishes are absolutely not suitable for children?

When choosing products for our kids, safety is always a top priority. Unfortunately, commercial nail polishes contain harsh chemicals that make them anything but safe for young nails. Some of the worst offenders are:

Formaldehyde - A hardening agent that is also a known carcinogen.
Toluene - A solvent that can impact the central nervous system, causing headaches, dizziness, and fatigue.
Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) - Linked to reproductive issues and banned in several countries.
Camphor - Can cause nausea, dizziness, and headaches when inhaled.
Triphenyl Phosphate (TPHP) - Suspected to disrupt hormone regulation.

As a parent, I struggled to find a fun nail polish brand that was safe for my kids. Most options seemed geared only towards girls, but I wanted something that my little boy could enjoy too (because actually he loves nail polish more than his sister does - take that gender-norms!). That's why I decided to create Buds. Our nail polishes are free from a heap of harmful chemicals (check out our FAQ about 12 free here) and are made from 83% plant-derived ingredients like cotton, sugarcane, and corn, replacing traditionally used petrochemical ingredients. Buds polishes are water permeable & breathable (meaning oxygen and water still reaches the nail bed when the polish is on), vegan, cruelty-free, and proudly made in Australia.
